proof that the world has officially become insane
I apologize for the non-Jpop topic, but I just have to post this link and this link. Please, please do read.
Seventeen girls in a Massachusetts highschool decided to get pregnant together and make some sort of promise to raise their kids together. WHAAA????
BIKKURISHIMASHITA. And not in a good-way shock.
The article mentioned that some of the girls in said highschool are upset upon finding out that they're not preggo. OK honestly? Did my world just turn upside down there? And what drives these young girls to want to have babies that early? Because then you'll have someone who'll love you unconditionally.
Ok I get that gals, but when you're only seventeen.. don't you think there are other things more of higher importance to do than having babies? Like trying to get into college, or work, or pursue things you like? Hanging out with your friends?
Wanting to have baby is a honorable and very admirable decision, don't get me wrong. But there's also millions of things thats gonna come your way once you pop that little cutie into the world. YOU will always be second and the baby will always be first. That's just how it is. No, I've never had any kids before nor am I preaching here, it is a simple fact. I've worked as a nanny before and every single parent I've worked for told me it's always the case. You're the second, your kid's the first. And having witnessed my own mother, I simply believe that fact.
Let me just say that I do not believe someone who barely reaches legal age has the mental and financial capability of handling a child. No, I simply don't. Shit, I'm almost 24, and I don't think I can handle having a kid anytime soon.
Some blame movies like Juno and Knocked Up, as it's stated in the TIME article, for glamorizing the unplanned pregnancy. Honestly it seems to me people are losing common sense. You can look at those movies from a completely positive approach - they are NOT advising you to go around and get preggo because things will always be ok in the end, they are simply stating the fact that SHOULD you get unplanned preggo, there are solutions like adoption. It's offering a solution and I dont think they're propaganda-filled movies.
And I do agree with the opinion that says teenage kids need parents companion when watching these movies. They're rated PG for a reason you know. Hollywood's never been a babysitter, because if it is, it would be so far from its current success. I mean just how twisted the world has become that kids take a movie with a positive message like Juno into some sort of advice to get pregnant??
I'd like to hear the opinions of the future-fathers of these seventeen unborn babies, too.
Ok, end ranting. I just had to get that out. SO frustrating to read things like this.
